Curious as to whether you should host your own blog, or choose a free blog provider like BlogSpot? This is a question more and more people are asking themselves after witnessing just how far their blog has come.

Although there are advantages and disadvantages to both, having your own web hosting server is always better at the end of the day. Here are to simple (and extremely valid) reasons why you should avoid using a free blog provider:

Reason #1: Limited Resources

Posting content through a remotely hosted blog requires that you relinquish a tremendous amount of control over how messages look and work. This is mainly because a remotely hosted blog by design is built to accommodate hundreds of thousands of bloggers.

For such a big volume of activity, it can only afford to offer the very least. A blog that offers an extensive amount of features to a large number of people consumes much more resources than what its own servers can provide — ultimately running the risk of major crashes.

Even something as simple as a low-graphic poll can consume an insurmountable amount of bandwidth if over 100,000 bloggers decide to offer one to their visitors. A popular blog already consumes more bandwidth than you can imagine.

Resources simply aren’t an issue with a self-hosted WordPress blog these days. With your blog web hosting, you can deck out your blog with as many plugins and widgets as your heart desires without having to fear server crashes or time outs.

In fact, you shouldn’t consume any more bandwidth with your own hosted blog than you would consume with your own hosted website.

Reason #2: Limited Monetizing Opportunities

We couldn’t count the number of people who want to monetize their blogs if we wanted to. The simple fact is that everyone and his “mom” wants to monetize their blog but the ugly reality is that many (free) remotely hosted blogs don’t allow it.

If you host a blog at WordPress.com for example, you’re prohibited from using any form of direct advertising like Google AdSense or affiliate links.

Limited resources could play a factor in this restriction, however since most monetized campaigns call upon the resources of a 3rd party, this restraint is mostly censorship. Blogs that curb 3rd party ads generally want to limit advertisements other than those to their own products and/or services.

With your own blog of course, you can advertise whatever, whenever, where ever. The only restriction you’ll face are the ones imposed by the third party advertising programs. This allows you to tap into popular programs like Google AdSense, Chitika, Text Link Ads and much more.

Reason #3: Long Term Control of Content

One of the most overlooked reasons to get your own blog hosting is the complete control over content in the long term. Many smaller blog providers will eventually go out of business.

And when that happens, it can be difficult (if not impossible) for you to move your content to another free provider. Even in the case of BlogSpot or WordPress.com (free version) you may want to move your content to your own blog host two or three years down the road.

Unfortunately, any search engine ranking you get, and the free traffic that comes along with it, will be lost. So even if you think you’re saving a buck or two today, in the long term you’re always on the losing end if you decide not to host your own blog.

Web hosting blog blogs nowadays is pretty affordable - mostly under $7 a month - so there’s no real reason not to take your blog to the next level. The security, flexibility and professional image it gives you more than covers for the meager cost.

————————

If you’re looking to host your own blog but don’t want to deal with the technical stuff. make sure you take a look at the one-stop blog web hosting solution - http://www.HostCommando.com

Stroller Toys

The deliberation of purchasing baby Stroller Toys could be very thrilling, particularly once you beat the sores filled with sweet looking things which your baby will like to play with. Nice infant stroller toys even make for wonderful room accessories while they are kept in the open shelves or just when they are lying on kid’s room floor. To ensure that you purchase the best feasible baby Stroller Toys remember the following points in mind:

1. Soft- Toys with soft surface, having a soft finish, are what you must be careful for. Make certain there are no uneven edges on the toys which could hurt the kid’s skin.

2. Large- You must choose sensibly large toys, with big sub parts. This makes sure that though your baby acquires the toy in his mouth, he is unable to consume it down. Though, do not select for the toys which are very large which the child cannot also take under his grip. Moreover, despite being large they must be as light weighted as feasible, in order that the bay could hold it up with no trouble.

3. Strong- The baby stroller toy must be manufactured superbly, in order that the parts do not remain coming off.

4. Washable- The toys must be easy to clean, as well as if possible also be such that they do not draw too much dust and dirt. The baby will be inclined to take stroller toys in his mouth repeatedly again, as well as there is not much you could do about it. The ultimate way to ensure that it does as little damage to the child’s health as feasible is by keeping it dirt free. Washable toys which do not get unclean easily are certainly very significant.

Learning Toys

Kids like video games, however the majority of games have little or no learning value and a lot of even glorify aggression. Therefore it is no shock that parents regularly put severe restrictions on the kinds of games their children can play as well as how frequently and for long they could play them.

That is not to say that all the video games are not good. Many Learning Toy makers as well as kids’ book publishers have used the recognition of video games to their benefit and formed learning computer games. Kids find these fun and entertaining and adults like them because they teach kids new things and strengthen what they are education in school.

Pre-school Children Toys:

In this “Information Age”, it is becoming all the time more significant for kids to turn out to be contented with computers while they are youthful. Computer games are obtainable for toddlers as young as preschool age. When your child perhaps would not be capable to do typing at that age, you could assist her study how to make use of a mouse. Preschoolers can play the games that facilitate them study the alphabet, shapes, numbers and colors.

This should be read by kids and parents together.

Young children are known to be pretty horrid to each other. I have heard some of the meanest things in playgrounds! Teenagers go through a lot as far as relationships go. Everybody knows it and everybody goes through it or has gone through it, so it’s no big deal. We know, as adults, that we get over it eventually. Still, sometimes, it really hurts and teenage hormones may lead to unexpected reactions. Children and teenagers don’t always have the maturity to put things into perspective yet.

Discovering new feelings is disturbing. There is more and more social pressure in schools to be a certain way and part of the “in” crowd. But the “in” crowd is not the right one for every child. When facing a difficult social situation, when you try to adjust pretending to be someone else to fit in, or when you find yourself left out because you won’t settle for certain rules, it creates a world of new emotions that have to be faced.

Coming from the children world where, granted, kids can indeed be mean to one another, but where things are also easily forgotten, the teenage world is a bit tougher because things affect kids in a different way. To avoid pain, embarrassment and shame, many teenagers forget who they are and follow the herd. For them, it is better to have bad friends than no friends at all and they take the consequences. Even though in reality, there are always other friends but to them, it feels like there aren’t any or they are not worth giving up the status they have acquired.

As teenagers, you have to stay aware of who you are and understand your value. This is a very hard thing to do for some people. The pressure of so-called friends may drag you down. You must stick with the friends who get the best out of you. I am talking about friendships AND more involved relationships.

It is a very hard concept to grasp for kids and teenagers alike. I can’t tell you how many 14-year-olds I have had to console when their best friend decided to “dump” them after some bitter fight over silliness. Of course, for them, it is not silly. A first experience of back-stabbing is not pleasant. What teenagers often don’t see is that they don’t need people like that in their lives. And yet they fall out and love each other again over and over.

I always ask kids what those friends bring to their lives. Any relationship is an exchange. To put it very simply: What I do makes you happy and what you do makes me happy. I grow thanks to your influence and vice versa. My life gets richer because you are in it and so does yours because I am in it. Teenagers have to be reminded constantly of this. Some are stronger than others or more mature and will be able to be burnt once and then understand and move on to greener pastures, but others take longer or, in worst cases, really fall into the trap.

I am not saying that there are good kids and bad kids. There are simply different people, with different values, different backgrounds, different histories, cultures, ideas, opinions, etc. who do not necessarily function well with just everybody. In the formative teenage years, you haven’t always completely defined yourself and influences can take you far from who you really are.

Boys and girls take the same risks. Girls will cry and scream more and boys will punch and kick more but the result is the same. Kids have to learn as soon as possible to surround themselves with people who add to their lives and only produce positive emotions. They also have to learn that they have to do the same if they want good relationships. Little upsets are always likely to happen in a relationship but that’s normal and doesn’t have a long lasting result. But if you see your kids mad, hurt, disappointed on a regular basis, look into it, don’t just let it be thinking it’s only teenage stuff. Self-esteem at that age is too important.

The key to remember is: What you give is what you get. Never lower yourself to someone else’s level. Be your true, honest, friendly, generous, genuine and happy self and you will only attract like-minded people.

————————

The following is a true-to-life scenario described by a doctor. It reflects an all-too-frequent problem.

THE whole family was worried. Now even the doctor was too. “If his bleeding doesn’t stop soon,” the doctor said, “we may have to consider a blood transfusion.”

The man had been slowly losing blood through his bowels for several weeks, and the problem had been diagnosed as inflammation of the stomach, or gastritis. “Are you sure you’re not taking any medications?” asked the frustrated doctor.

“No. Only this natural over-the-counter stuff for my arthritis,” said the man.

Suddenly the doctor pricked up his ears. “Let me see it.” Carefully searching the ingredient label, he found what he was looking for. Acetylsalicylic acid! Problem solved. When the patient stopped taking the aspirin-containing compound and was given iron and some stomach-healing medicine, the bleeding stopped and his blood count slowly returned to normal.

In 1995 the Harvard Health Letter reported that “routine aspirin use saves lives.” Citing several worldwide studies, which have been repeated many times since then, researchers concluded: “Nearly everyone who has ever had a heart attack or stroke, suffers from angina, or has undergone coronary artery bypass surgery should take one-half to one aspirin tablet daily unless they are allergic to the drug.”

With all these presumed benefits of aspirin, why doesn’t everyone take it? For one thing, there is still much that is not known. Even the ideal dosage is unclear. Recommendations range from one standard tablet twice daily to as little as one baby aspirin every other day. Should the dosage for women be different from that for men? Doctors are not sure. While enteric-coated aspirin may be considered somewhat helpful, the advantage of buffered aspirin is still controversial.

Reasons for Caution

Though technically aspirin is a natural substance—American Indians obtained components of aspirin from the bark of a willow tree—it has many side effects. Besides the fact that it causes bleeding problems in some people, there are many other potential complications with aspirin, including allergic reactions in aspirin-sensitive people. Needless to say, daily aspirin usage is not for everyone.

A person who is at risk for heart attack or stroke or who has significant risk factors, however, may want to ask his or her doctor about the risks and benefits of daily aspirin use. Certainly the patient would want to make sure he or she has no bleeding problems, no aspirin intolerance, and no stomach or gastrointestinal problems. Other potential problems or medication interactions should be reviewed with the physician prior to beginning therapy.

As noted before, aspirin and aspirinlike medications carry the significant risk of bleeding. And that bleeding may be subtle, not immediately apparent, and slowly cumulative over time. Other medications too need to be considered with care, particularly other anti-inflammatory medicines. Be sure to inform your physician if you are using any of them. In most cases it would be wise to discontinue the medication prior to surgery. Perhaps even regular laboratory monitoring of blood levels would be helpful.

Polarising Filters: Why You Should Have One (And Know How To Use It).

In nature photography, filters are a must for some photographers and an absolute no-no for others. Some photographers insist that everything must be captured exactly as it was in nature, while others love the effects and enhancements they can get from a variety of filters.

I fall somewhere between the two camps. I always try to capture my subject in natural light without artificial effects…but sometimes conditions prevent me getting the shot I need without a little help. That’s why I have exactly one filter in my camera: a polarising filter.

A polariser is not much different to polarised sunglasses. It does not colour the photo, but it reduces glare and reflection. As a result, natural colours can appear stronger and more vibrant in your photos. The most obvious place this can be seen is in the sky, where a hazy sky can become a rich, saturated blue.

The difference between using the polariser and a blue filter, is that the polariser uses the natural colour of the sky, while the coloured filter adds artificial colour. A blue filter, for example would also turn white clouds a shade of blue, whereas the polariser leaves the clouds clear and white.

The polarising filter also increases the contrast between the sky and the clouds, making the cloud formation stand out more clearly against the background. An attractive cloud formation can be enriched to become a feature of real impact in your photo.

Polarising filters can be rotated on the lens to adjust the level of polarisation. It is important to practice with your polariser to get the most natural effects.

A polarising filter in the hands of an inexperienced photographer can be a frightening thing. You see, at maximum polarisation, the filter can produce some fairly extreme effects. The contrast in the sky can be so strong that some areas will become navy blue, even black. The saturation of other colours in the photo can also be exaggerated beyond recognition. These effects certainly add power and impact to a photo, but they can go far beyond any sense of the natural.

The trick with a polarising filter is to find a level that reduces the glare and provides a nice saturation of colour, while maintaining a natural appearance. This is a simple matter of rotating the filter on the camera until you find the right level, and with experience you will get the hang of it.

There is a lot more to a polarising filter than just colourful skies. Eliminating glare and reflection can be an enormous benefit in all kinds of situations; even in the places you least expect.

One situation that might surprise you is in the rainforest. On a cloudy day under the canopy of the trees, you would not expect glare to be a problem. But there can be a lot of reflection off the glossy leaves of the rainforest vegetaion, and a polarising filter can reduce it significantly. The result will be a more saturated green throughout your photo. Just like in the sky, the effect is not the same as simply using a coloured filter; the polariser does not add artificial colour, it enhances the clarity of the natural colour.

Of course the elimination of reflections can also transform any photo of water, and shiny surfaces like the glass walls of a high-rise building. With practice, you will find all kinds of ways to employ your polarising filter.

There are some drawbacks. The filter will darken your exposures, so you will often have to use slower shutter speeds than you would otherwise (and keep your tripod handy). The effects of the filter also vary depending on the time of day and your angle to the sun. There are plenty of situations where you will simply be better off without it.

I recommend adding a polarising filter to your DSLR kit bag. You won’t use it all the time. With expereince, you will learn to judge when to use it and when to leave it in the bag, but your photography will be richer for having a polarising filter handy when the situation calls for it.

————————
